Now Approaching: New Pass Programs will Boost Students’ Transit Use

Anchor Partners Augsburg College and St. Paul College are joining forces with Metro Transit to encourage incoming students to use public transit.

Metro Transit is testing two transit pass programs designed to familiarize new students with public transit, and orient them to transportation options.

“Saint Paul College is a commuter campus and many of our students rely on public transportation,” noted Saint Paul College president Rassoul Dastmozd.(right)  “We are grateful to Metro Transit for this partnership; it introduces the transit option as a real value proposition.”

Metro transit will make 150 College Passes ($175 value), providing unlimited rides for a semester, available to SPC students for an introductory cost of only $20.

Scrubs on, Successful Operation

Watch our Scrubs Camp 2015 video!A full camp of 75 high school students attended the 6th annual scrubs camp at Augsburg College last week. The camp offers students a week of intensive, hands-on sessions, paving visions for attending college and pursuing health care careers.

Sixty students are registered to attend the sister camp at St. Paul college July 20-23. Fairview and Health Partners provide critical program and scholarship support.

Fairview’s System Director of Talent Acquisition Laura Beeth (right) has been involved with Scrubs Camps since the beginning.  “It is gratifying to see the commitment of these students,” she noted.  “It really is inspiring to see our future workforce here.”

Partner Procurement Analysis Due End of Summer

The Anchor Partnership hired the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) to complete a full analysis of spending by 10 Anchor institutions in order to develop a data-driven strategy to focus more spending in Central Corridor neighborhoods.

The Partnership is eager to develop a data-driven strategy to spending more procurement dollars in Central Corridor neighborhoods. ICIC’s analysis is expected to be complete August 6.

With key support from the Central Corridor Funders Collaborative, the partnership turned to ICIC for help.  ICIC is a nonprofit research and strategy organization founded by Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter and is focused on inner city economies.
